Monday Practice Report

Offense was the name of the game today at the Lynx practice facility.

After a tough loss to the Western Conference leaders the Seattle Storm, the Lynx pounded out offensive drills, shooting drills and worked on improving their plays.

Coach Cheryl Reeve said that she's proud of the way her team played against the Storm, but in order to be a real contender for the playoffs they need to execute their offense more efficiently.

"It's definitely hard to lose by two points," Reeve said. "Our shooting percentage is not where it should be and that's a problem. We need to be more efficient on offense and start making smart shots instead of hard ones."

Forward Seimone Augustus feels the same way. She said that even though their defense has been superb these last couple of games she knows that the team is capable of playing better offense.

"38 percent shooting isn't where we should be at right now," Augustus said. "When we get out on the court we're all going 100 miles an hour and trying to do everything at once. I think when we slow down we'll be able to get better looks and make those baskets that we haven't been able to make before."

With their next game not until Thursday, the team has plenty of time to work on new offensive plays, improve their shooting skills, and prepare for the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Augustus seemed more than confident that her team will be able to come up with a W on Thursday.

"What's today, Monday? And our next game isn't until Thursday? We've got plenty of time," Augustus said. "San Antonio better watch out."
