Unlocking the Game - Week 2

Hey Sky Fans! Check out week two of Unlocking the Game With Coach Key. As always these are actual questions, from actual fans, that have been answered by Coach Key himself. See what he had to say to fans this week...
Good afternoon coach! Just a general question. What record would be satisfactory for the Sky at the end of the season? Wish you all the best!
Marcin Mochal, Poland

Coach Key: Whatever record is needed to make the playoffs.

What methods does the Chicago Sky staff use to scout for talent in the USA and overseas?
Wallace, Milwaukee

CK: We use word of mouth, scouting reports from colleges and free agents. We Travel to Europe. We watch a lot of television, since a lot of games are covered by local networks. It makes our job easier with a first look and then we follow it up with live visits and chats with coaches. We try to get as much information as possible.

Hello Coach, first of all congratulations on four straight victories! I must say I'm very happy for Jia Perkins who recently has been playing on a significantly better field goal percentage. My question is precisely about dealing with problems with making shots. What can a coach do to help a good scorer who's struggling with making shots to fix that problem?
Marcin, Poland

CK: I have to continue to put them in plays or areas where they can excel. A good scorer will find a way to put the ball in the basket and I can help them by putting them in the right situation.

What is the mentality of the team now versus after losing their first four games?
Jacob, Chicago

CK: We didn’t change a lot. In order for us to change the 0-4 start, we just had to change our mentality, focus, paying attention to detail and have the discipline to rely on our game plan.

If Sylvia starts to cool off, who will you look to step up for the Sky?
Matt, Phoenix

CK: We have capable people who can score 20 points a night. If she is having a slow night, Kraayeveld, Shameka, Jia and Prince can step and score. We are a team built around sharing the ball, so we don’t need to go to anyone specifically because we have multiple players capable of handling the load. We will find a way to help those members share their load. Somebody would step up.

How have Kraayeveld and Christon adapted to the Sky’s team chemistry?
Lauren, Olympia Fields

CK: They are very talkative and communicative about what to do and how to get it done. It’s a welcomed addition to have more people talking on the court because that is particularly important in any game.

Your bench has stepped up in the four wins. In those games where they are causing the other team troubles, how do you decide when to put the starters back in?
Anthony, Chicago

CK: It’s sometimes difficult, like the Tulsa game when everyone was playing well and the bench was playing particularly well. When that happens, we might as well ride it out with who is in. Some players get lower numbers. For example, in the Tulsa game, Jia, Dominique and Shameka had lower minutes than their averages. The bench got rewarded for their efforts.
